Prominent cheekbones and a strong jawline are characteristics of some of the most beautiful people in Hollywood and abroad. Men and women of any age can achieve youthful facial definition with chin and cheek implants. Implants also add overall facial balance for patients who have a more prominent nose or forehead.
Benefits of Chin and Cheek Implants
- Define facial features
- Provide balance to facial features
- Improve a receding chin
- Disguise a double chin
- Add youthful fullness to the cheeks
Both facial implant procedures utilize intravenous sedation or general anesthesia to make you comfortable during surgery. Dr. Corbin will insert a sterile implant that will feel like your natural facial structures into the appropriate area to provide the desired result. Dr. Corbin and you will determine the exact size and placement of the implant during your initial consultation. The entire procedure takes about one hour to complete.
Typically, Dr. Corbin places cheek implants through incisions inside the mouth. He may use alternate incisions when combining this procedure with other facial procedures, such as a facelift, which may include an incision within the lower eyelid or the hairline. Dr. Corbin closes the incisions with sutures.
Dr. Corbin typically inserts a chin implant through an incision inside the mouth along the crease that joins the lower lip and gums, or he may use an incision beneath the chin. After securing the implant into the correct position, he closes the incision with sutures.
Recovery and Results
Recovery following facial implants is generally very quick. Most patients can return to work after one week when most of the swelling and bruising has subsided. At this time, bandages and dressings are removed.
It is best to avoid touching the implants for one month after surgery. Sleeping with a U-shaped pillow can help avoid accidentally sleeping on the area. Smiling and chewing may feel slightly uncomfortable or stiff for a few weeks, but this will gradually return to normal. Complete healing and results are generally apparent within three to four months after surgery, and any numbness in the area usually resolves by this time. Patients enjoy permanent results from these procedures with their newly sculpted features and increased confidence.
