What Size Implant Should I Opt For?

By Frederic Corbin · Comments (1)

orange county breast implantsChoosing to undergo a breast augmentation – a surgical procedure where a patient increases her breast size via silicone or saline implants – can be a major decision in a person’s life.  It’s not just the decision to undergo surgery or to improve one’s self-esteem with fuller breasts; in fact, patients often struggle with deciding which size implant they should opt for.

The decision is one that could affect every aspect of the patient’s life.  For example, having larger breasts means planning out a new wardrobe, developing a new sense of style, and carrying oneself in a different way to accommodate for the new size.  If the patient opts for a too-large implant – and the plastic surgeon goes along with it – the patient may find that it’s difficult to enjoy normal activities due to the extra weight.  Additionally, she might face new health problems from too-large implants, like back aches and body pains.

If you’re wondering what size implant you should opt for, Dr. Corbin is here to assist you.  As a plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in Beverly Hills and Orange County, Dr. Corbin has been providing patients with superior breast augmentation procedures using safe and natural-looking breast implants.  This can ensure that patients enjoy the look and feel of fuller breasts without exposing themselves to new health problems and body issues.

During the initial consultation stage, Dr. Corbin will help you determine your ideal breast implant size by making the following suggestions:

  • You need to be comfortable with the size of your implant, as you’ll be wearing it for the rest of your life.  You may want to go large now, but how will it feel to have large breasts as you enter your 50s and 60s?  Keep this in mind when deciding what size implants you should go for.

  • Wear the implant in a bra first to see how comfortable you are.  If the implant feels too heavy or your back begins to ache, it’s likely that the implant is too large for you.

  • Ignore cup size, as this can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.  Instead, focus on how the implant’s volume and size looks with your body.

Dr. Corbin will also provide you with information regarding the safety of the implant, including any long-term risks or complications.  He may refuse your request for extremely large implants, as it could endanger your health.
