What You Need to Know About Rhinoplasty Revision

rhinoplasty revisionRhinoplasty, or a nose job, can be a face-changing procedure that highlights your facial features and restores your confidence levels.  However, there are some instances where rhinoplasty procedures may not bring about the desired results.  Noses can be misshapen, tips can point in the wrong direction, or the size of the nose may not be ideal for a person’s facial shape and features.

What is Rhinoplasty Revision?

Rhinoplasty revision is a cosmetic procedure that’s performed to correct the results of a poorly performed nose job.  Candidates for rhinoplasty revision procedure should meet the following criteria:

  • The patient should be physically healthy
  • The patient should be realistic in his or her expectations for the rhinoplasty revision procedure.  Generally speaking, most plastic surgeons will not perform rhinoplasty revision on patients who demonstrate inaccurate expectations for their procedural results.
  • The patient had a previous rhinoplasty procedure that he or she is not pleased with.

If you meet the above criteria, you may want to consider a rhinoplasty revision procedure with Dr. Corbin, a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in Beverly Hills, California.  Dr. Corbin has an extensive history performing reconstructive surgeries, including rhinoplasty revision.

What to Expect From a Rhinoplasty Revision Procedure

During the initial consultation with Dr. Corbin, you should expect to discuss your previous rhinoplasty procedures, and why you were unhappy with them.  Dr. Corbin will also evaluate your nose and your facial features to determine the correct nose shape for facial balance.

During the actual rhinoplasty revision procedure, Dr. Corbin will make the necessary incisions and the skin will be separated from the nose cartilage.  Based on the corrections needed, Dr. Corbin will reposition the cartilage until the desired nose shape has been achieved.  Rhinoplasty revision typically takes longer than two hours, depending on the amount of work that’s needed.

Patients may expect to experience less pain than the original rhinoplasty procedure; however, discomfort and bruising are likely to occur.  Patients will need a family member or friend to drive them home; patients should also expect to take off a week from work, as it takes between six to seven days for most of the swelling and bruising to heal.

If you’re dissatisfied with a previous rhinoplasty procedure and want to correct it, contact Dr. Corbin for a rhinoplasty revision consultation today. You can simply fill out the form in the top right corner or call (714) 671-3033 for our Brea office or (310) 284-8384 for our Beverly Hills office.
